Cool Dudes: The Real Cathy and her Little Boss |
Who is The Real Cathy?
The Real Cathy wants to be cool,
but she is not as cool as she thinks she is. 😎
She wants to change the world, but can not figure out which part of the world needs her help more.
She is the founder of HMI, a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity and has made a very big commitment to her hometown of Emporium, PA, by creating and then serving as the executive director, in a volunteer capacity, for this nonprofit since 2010.
The Real Cathy has some arthritis aches and pains from "ongoing years" but tries to overlook it by drinking more water and thinking about losing weight. 😕

The Real Cathy has never born children but loves her "own" now adult, daughters all the way to Mars and back.
Adoption, to her, is paying forward the grace that God has given to her in the lives of His innocent children. Teaching young ones that Jesus loves them, is worth all that life has to offer.
She says, "God knew Krissy and Stacy were mine before I did".
The Real Cathy is also blessed with three "homemade" grandchildren, who are the sunshine in her smile.
The Real Cathy has wanted to be a writer for many many years, but life had to be journeyed first.
She has the character of a small town girl with experience of working in the big city during ten years of her lifelong career as an executive secretary.... that's enough.
The Real Cathy was a caregiver for her late, brain injured, husband back in the nineteen hundreds. However, she burnt out after eleven years, suffered from clinical depression and gave up the fight to care for him. He passed away six years later.
In 2017, she went to her late husband's grave site in Wisconsin, to visit his grave and begin to write his story. She also placed flowers on his grave with a note that said, "I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to travel on the most difficult journey of your life with you".
The Real Cathy sometimes ventures in where angels fear to tread but she snaps out of it when she hears God calling to her and doesn't tread too far.
She was given a part time job, in retirement, that fulfills her needs for serving God and people. Some say it, "fell into her lap", but she says it was destined by God Himself.
The Real Cathy is a very proud daughter of her Dad, Ken Ostrum. Even being a wordsmith, she can't find words suitable enough to describe the best blessing in her life. He is a Korean War Veteran and is a Wonderful, Godly, Friendly, Humble, and Well Traveled man.
When he visited Korea, at the age of 80+, a Korean TV crew followed him and wrote his story about helping build an orphanage in 1953 (the year The Real Cathy was born) and his search to find his old friend from back in that day. Click here to see Ken's Korean Travel Story
The Real Cathy is married to a former sprint car racer named Steve. But then, nearly everyone at Port Royal Speedway in Pennsylvania is named Steve. She learned early on in their late-life relationship that even though he was "Rookie of the Year" way back in 1970, he continues to have a few groupies. Dirt track racing is in Steve's blood. That's just all there is to that.
It would be an honor if you enjoy Cathy's writing and subscribe to her blogs. Leave a comment and let her know that you enjoy the writing.
The Real Cathy has a couple blog addresses:

Butterfly Blessings to all of you, in your life journey!
